Wireless FM Modulators - Portable And Versatile

| Sunday, July 31, 2011
By James M. Boersma

In general there are two devices, the wired and wireless FM modulator, which convert audio from your iPod or MP3 player into RF signals that are then sent to your automobile's stereo system and played on an unused FM station. Typically, the modulator functions as a wired device, but there are quality modulators that are wireless.

Essentially, their function is the same. It's just that one operates with wires, while the other does not. Despite this understanding, people still assume that the wired FM modulator is the better option. Why is that?

With any form of technology a wireless option is usually the one that provides optimal functionality and ease of use. This principle is extremely true when comparing wired and wireless modulators.

To prove my point, let's first examine the process - and potential problems - of having a wired FM modulator permanently installed in your car/truck:

1. You need to pull apart the dash, and then pull out your factory radio, while being careful not to cause any damage to the current setup.

2. Once you've gotten the radio out, you will need to splice the wires making sure that everything connects properly.

3. Once you're done, getting everything back together can be quite a challenge.

4. If the product breaks, or you decide you simply don't want a modulator, you will have to uninstall the product.

5. Since it's permanently installed, that means it will be inconvenient for someone leasing a car or looking to sell.

6. You aren't able to use it in multiple vehicles because it is permanently installed.

Most wired FM modulators are installed and hidden in your dash. Because of this, it's almost impossible to quickly address any issues you may have with the modulator.

However, if you purchase a wireless FM modulator, there will be absolutely no installation. You'll easily be able to transport the modulator from vehicle to vehicle, as well as use it in your home, office, backyard, etc.

It's important to avoid cheap wireless FM modulators, usually costing about $15, which will give you poor audio performance. These modulators are complete junk, but a quality wireless FM modulator performs extremely well and can rival the audio quality of a wired FM modulator.

A quality wireless FM modulator will also include the following benefits:

1. Because the modulator is compatible with most audio sources, you get an unlimited number of uses for the product.

2. The capability to choose from any frequency on the public FM band.

3. Microphone plug-in, automatic gain control, volume and mute control, ability to switch from mono to stereo, preset frequencies that allow you to easily switch between favorites and a manual on/off switch.

4. The device can be powered by almost any source, be it adapter, cigarette lighter, USB, or by simply changing the batteries.

5. The capability to broadcast your audio up to 150 feet, just about the maximum allowed by the FCC.

Having the freedom to use the wireless FM modulator in multiple locations make it a tremendously convenient product. With audio quality that rivals a wired FM modulator, there is really no reason to limit yourself to one vehicle. A wireless FM modulator gives you many more possible uses and is a breeze to set up and maintain.

FM Modulator For People On The Go

|
By James M. Boersma

Listening to personal music when I'm on the go is one of my favorite things in life. When I'm working out, or driving to work, it is much more enjoyable to listen to my favorite music, rather than commercial radio or silence. An iPod is so great because they can hold more music than I could have ever collected if I were buying CDs.

iPods, smartphones and other mp3 players have revolutionized how we obtain and play our music. It is truly remarkable how many songs someone can have at their disposal due to these amazing devices. The only problem, if you happen to own an older vehicle, is that there may not be a convenient way to hook up your iPod to the car stereo. This can be a real bummer considering how much time and money you've probably spent to collect an awesome play list. The best way to fix this problem is to purchase an FM modulator.

Most people think that wired FM modulators are the best option. These types of modulators require extensive installation, which will cost you more time and money. The other downfall of wired modulators is that they can only be used in the car. While this is probably where you will use it the most, it is still a nice feature to be able to use it in the home as well (as with a wireless unit).

Many wireless modulators have pretty poor performance unfortunately. However, the best ones can easily broadcast music over a hundred feet, which results in very high audio quality. Good FM modulators are compatible with all audio sources and can transmit on any available frequency in the public FM band. Check out this wireless modulator FM for an example of what I'm talking about.

Since most wireless FM modulators can barely transmit a few feet, their are many disgruntled customers out there. You can find evidence of this on large eCommerce sites like eBay and Amazon. To make sure you're getting a good modulator, check out these sites and make sure the feedback for the modulator your considering is generally positive.

Wireless FM modulators give you many more options than a wired unit. Being able to use the modulator in multiple vehicles and other locations like your home is a huge advantage. Wireless units are also much easier to use and setup because they require no extensive installation like a wired FM modulator. All in all a wireless FM modulator provides more bang for the buck.

Best FM Modulator For The Home

A wireless FM modulator allows you to create your very own radio station. No longer will you be stuck listening to commercial radio on your morning drive or on long car trips. Wireless FM modulators are perfect companions to an mp3 player. The best thing about them however, is that you can also use them at home to broadcast music throughout the entire house.

So, what is a modulator? Wireless FM modulators can broadcast any audio from a computer, TV, mp3 player or CD player to any FM radio in your house. This is achieved by converting the audio to RF signals, which are the picked up by the FM radio and played on an FM station. Unused or static filled stations work the best, and provide the best audio quality. Using an FM modulator can create the effect of an impressive home stereo system for a lot less money.

With a wireless FM modulator you can have music playing from a computer, like Pandora or iTunes, and broadcast it throughout the entire home. If you have a pool or a nice yard, you can still listen to same music with a simple FM radio. This can create a simple and easy party in no time at all. Everyone can listen to the same music no matter where they are.

It's important to remember that not all wireless FM modulators are created equal. Many FM modulators are not able to transmit more than 10 feet. These weak modulators will not be able to broadcast quality music unless the FM radio you're using is right next to the modulator. It doesn't make mush sense to buy something that will make your music sound hollow and lifeless. Low quality modulators cannot overpower even the weakest of FM stations, which means your music will have static and interference.

The best FM Modulator will enable you to play audio throughout your entire home, and even your backyard if you wanted. Good FM modulators enable you to broadcast over a hundred feet, easily overcoming static and broadcasting music of the highest quality.

Wireless FM modulators should also be a universal device. A good modulator will be able to broadcast audio from any device with a 3.5 mm headphone jack. Some modulators are only compatible with iPods, which severely limits the ways in which you can use it. Versatility and ease of use are what set apart the best FM modulators from the low quality units.

Wired MP3 FM Modulator - What Are My Alternatives

| Tuesday, July 26, 2011
By James M. Boersma

A wired MP3 FM modulator is a popular way of using MP3 players in a car. The problem is that wired modulators are stuck in your car at all times because of their wiring. This is not very smart considering that modulators can be very useful in other situations beyond the car.

A wired MP3 FM modulator is permanently installed into your automobile's dashboard, preventing it from being used outside of your vehicle. A wireless MP3 FM modulator, also known as an FM transmitter, on the other hand can be used in any setting; be it automobile, home, etc. This is because it is portable and capable of broadcasting audio wirelessly over any radio. To better understand the unlimited potential an FM transmitter can provide, let's consider the following examples:

1. You can broadcast sound from any TV to an FM radio. This could be a convenient application if you are trying to watch TV late at night without disturbing the other people in your home. By broadcasting the audio to a nearby FM radio, the audio of the room can be greatly diminished but still allowing you to enjoy the program. Of course if you bought a wireless FM headset, you could eliminate the overall sound in the room completely.

2. Listening to the same music in multiple rooms can make housework much more enjoyable. The problem for most people is that they do not have a complex speaker system capable of playing music throughout the entire house. Enter in a wireless MP3 FM modulator and a few FM radios and you can now broadcast any audio throughout your home.

3. The same concept can also be used in the backyard or at the beach. It is very easy to set up a quick dance party, so that a large group of people can all enjoy the same music.

When you limit yourself to just one vehicle with a wired modulator, all of these options become impossible. An MP3 wireless FM modulator can be very useful, but it's very important to purchase a quality modulator. Cheap wireless modulators can only broadcast a few feet, while quality units can easily go over 100ft.

Wireless modulators provide you with more value than wired models. Being able to use it in a variety of situations is extremely valuable in the long run. Once you begin to think of the possibilities, it's easy to see why a wireless MP3 FM modulator is the superior product.

By James M. Boersma

Not being able to use an mp3 player in the car can be frustrating. Today's portable devices were made specifically for listening to music on the go, but unfortunately many older vehicles weren't made to coexist with an mp3 player seamlessly. To get around this obstacle, the FM modulator is a great choice.

Most people assume that wired FM modulators - as opposed to wireless FM modulators - are the way to go. This is usually because people believe the wired connection will give them better audio quality. The truth is that both wired and wireless modulators can have great or poor audio quality based on the quality of the modulator itself. The following are some of the pros and cons associated with wired FM modulators:

Pros of a wired FM modulator

1. Located in a safe location (the dash)

2. The car powers the modulator

3. Better audio quality than a cassette adapter

Cons of a wired FM modulator

1. Extra money for installation

2. Professional may have to install it for you

3. Potential damage to your dash

4. Not easy to get to it if the modulator breaks

5. Only works in one vehicle

6. Wires can come loose and corrode over time

7. You have to uninstall the modulator if you get rid of your car

The pros and cons presented here shed light on the fact that proper installation is crucial with a wired FM modulator. And even if the installation is completely perfect, there is no guarantee the modulator will work (or that you'll like the product). If anything goes wrong with the product, there is a giant hassle to address the issue because it's installed in your dash. Wireless FM modulators avoid all of this trouble and require no installation.

Quality wireless FM modulators can also have fantastic audio clarity. To make sure you get the best wireless modulator, make sure the unit can broadcast up to 150 feet in stereo. Some wireless FM modulators boast huge transmission distances that are only in mono. Stereo sound is important for anyone who wants the best possible audio from a modulator.

Taking the time to shop around for a quality FM modulator can save you hours of frustration, as well as assuring that once you begin to use the product it will perform the way you desire.

When panic attacks strike, the physical symptoms can be unpleasant and in some cases frightening. Although those symptoms are often not actually detrimental to your physical well being, the feelings at the time can be distressing and have a negative impact on your day to day living. The actual experience can be more severe from one person to the next but attacks can result in shortness of breath, sweating and a feeling of not being in control.

So what can you do to deal with panic attacks and keep them from happening again? For starters, it helps to know the you're not the only one who has anxiety attacks. And don't forget that some people only experience a single anxiety attack instead of the regular attacks other individuals experience.

The first step in tackling this is to try to understand what may be triggering your panic attacks. There may be specific events in your life that have resulted in your lifestyle changing and triggered emotions that have an effect at a deeper level. For example, losing a loved one or breaking up with a significant other are major events which we may appear to manage well. However, suppressed feelings have a habit of finding their way out. One example of this is the way someone experiences significant grief many months after the passing of a loved one.

A professional counselor can be a big help when you can't determine why you are feeling the way you do. Finding ways to help you cope with the different phases of a panic attack is so important. As one of the major panic attack symptoms is shallow breathing, learning breathing exercises can help you to regulate this. The Distribution Of Information Through Radio Broadcasting

| Wednesday, July 20, 2011
By Gian Arizmendi

Televisions and internet are one of the main outputs of advancements in technology. These tools have made access to different events happening around the globe easier and faster. However, radio broadcasting, done through radio sets, is undoubtedly still an important tool in providing information as well as entertainment to the public.

The one way transmission over radio waves of information in order to reach a wide audience is the basic definition of radio broadcasting. In order to be able to do this, cable FM, local wire networks, satellite and the web are all linked together to broadcast a common programming. Radio broadcasting history dated back in 1899 when by Guglielmo Marconi set-up a wireless communication between France and England.

After this, in the year 1906, a naturalized American Citizen from Canada named Reginald Aubrey Fessenden, performed the first radio transmissions of voice and music which occurred on Christmas Eve during said year. Different experiments regarding radio communication has since then been performed. Devices allowing communication to only two parties to more complicated projects which allow signal to be transmitted to larger audiences are just some of the most popular experiments done.

August 1920 marked the first ever news bulletin which was broadcasted by Station 8Mk in Detroit, Michigan. The Marconi Institute of Whisstle on the other hand started broadcasting entertainment news over the airwaves in 1922. From 1930's to the late 1940's, the "golden age" of radio broadcasting happened. However, in the 1980's, due to the advent of the television, a decline in the popularity and demand for radio broadcasting has been observed. The popularity of the television increased tremendously that radio broadcasting suffered. Later, by the year 1990, radio broadcasting started to once again pick up when FM radio station started to provide music, news, weather, and sports broadcast.

Then and now, radio broadcasting through radio sets-or through the internet and other means today-is still deemed indispensable. Radios are a great company any time, any place, and anywhere. It can be listened to at home, in the car, at work, in shopping malls, or even in parks.

There are still a number of times where radios are deemed necessary despite the popularity of television in terms of entertainment, news, and sports event duties. One of the most important functions of radio sets is that they provide up to date information, news, and upcoming events vital to the community. Also, radio phone-ins are opted by individuals who want to have their voices and opinions to be heard. For those who have limited or no access to television, radio sets are still considered the next best thing.

Depending on the radio stations target market, radio broadcasting can come in many types. The contents of a radio broadcast can either be classified as National Radio, Regional Radio station, a Local Radio, or a Community radio. These types only cover specific regions. An example is the difference in news contents of a national and community radio. National radio covers national news while a community radio provides news that is more than likely will be seen in local newspapers. Radio broadcasting can also be classified as internet, cable and satellite stations, hospital, student or university campus radio, and/or pirate radio stations.

Radio sets are still indispensable to our day-to-day living. With its contributions not only in the propagation of information but in providing entertainment as well, radio broadcasting is still a thriving community that is still supported by people.

Smart Scuba Diving Habits to Make Your Own

| Tuesday, July 19, 2011
By Brayan Anderson

Many people enjoy scuba diving all over the world year round. Many people enjoy this sport for decades, usually because it is easy to learn and can be done in many waters. If you can locate a certified dive shop in your area, more than likely there are certified scuba instructors that can help you out. Learning from books is not enough: that is why certified instructors are there to help you. The rest of your education will come with experience and talking to dive masters and other divers. Beyond the basics, there are certified dive master courses that can lead all the way to you becoming a certified teacher. The following will present tips and suggestions that you should consider, specially if you plan on spending a lot of time diving during the summer.

We have talked about the subject of air consumption and the need to be efficient at it in other articles. This is in fact a renowned topic for those that have been diving for quite some time. The points are centered on aiding the novice scuba diver to a better comprehension of the importance of breathing technique and the recognition of the importance of air usage in general. When you are diving, it would behoove you to expend as little energy as possible. After you have some diving under your belt, try not to use your arms whenever you can. You should rely heavily on your fins. Assume a relaxed posture for your arms and let your fins take on the effort; hence your air intake will lessen.

When doing a 15 foot safety stop, it is important to be neutrally buoyant at all times. You want to begin at the surface level of the water, and strap on a virtually empty oxygen tank for this type of test. People that are unable to utilize a nearly empty tank may go a different route which includes attending negative buoyancy at the surface with a full tank, along with half full lungs and a buoyancy compensator that has no air.

You should begin the equalization process early in your dive and do it repetitively throughout. Some skilled divers will propose that you start the equalization procedure prior to getting into the water. This will give your ears the familiarity with what is about to take place. But you absolutely should do this once in the water and keep doing it every couple of feet or so. You can keep away from ear issues while going down and this is clearly a plus. Should you find that one ear is not equalizing quite enough, then tilt your head with the troublesome ear pointing toward the surface.

Complacency is one of the primary problems that most veteran divers run into because they do not think anything can go wrong. People that think like this may believe that they do not need extra help from others, and they can handle any problem that comes their way. This type of thinking is very lackadaisical and could lead to serious complications. You can actually stop properly preparing for a dive that you are about to take, which could lead to problems or serious scenarios that you won't be able to handle.

By Ruben F. Davis

With the advent of electronic devices, the convenience that they afford has made it a vital skill to learn how to fix a phone with water damage. There is a high probability that an electronic device that you own will get waterlogged at some point. Knowing what to do immediately is a definite skill one should have to minimize costs in repair or buying a new unit.

Liquids that come in contact with electronic devices can spell disaster to some people. But if you act quickly enough, you can prevent damage before it even happens. Once the liquid has penetrated the device, the first thing one should do is dry off the external parts of the unit and take the device apart to dry off the internal parts as best they can.

Separate the sim card and the battery pack from the cellular device immediately and dry them off. The rest of the device should be submerged in a container of alcohol for at least three minutes to displace liquids that could possible corrode any of the cellular device parts in the internal parts of the unit.

There are situations when a person will drop their unit in coffee or juice, which is very sticky and thick. To prevent stickiness in the unit, it is best to soak the device in distilled water for a few minutes to get rid of the stickiness. Once this is gone, then the unit can be soaked in alcohol to displace the water and prevent corrosion.

After three minutes of soaking, remove the device from the alcohol and place it on a dry highly absorbent cloth to dry. You can help it along by drying off parts of it with earbuds. It should take about two hours to dry completely. Shake the device once in a while to dislodge any alcohol that is stuck in hard to reach places.

Sometimes turning on a hair dryer at low heat and lightly passing it over the device once in a while will help. Once you know the device is completely dry, put it together, with the battery and sim card, and try turning it on.

This method on how to fix a phone with water damage has been a tried and tested procedure that often gets positive results. However, if the phone does not turn on, you may need to bring to back to the place you brought it to get it looked at by a professional.

Radio Receiver Technology: Continuously Leaping Forward Until Today's Time

| Saturday, July 9, 2011
By Lewis Gil

Radio receivers function through detecting, demodulating and amplifying transmitted received trough electronic circuits. The signals received through the electronic circuits are then transformed into different forms that can be understood and used by users such as sound, pictures, digital data, measurement values, navigational positions, etc. Audio and high fidelity audio receivers, satellite television receivers, and crystal radio receivers or radio sets are just come of the different types of receivers that are found in the market today.

An AV receiver is a type of receiver which uses an amplifier, a preamp/processor, and an FM/AM tuner. Along with audio and high fidelity audio receivers, this type of receiver is the most commonly used type especially by home stereo listeners and audio and home theatre system enthusiasts. The increased need in better audio is brought about by the increasing number of high definition television and home theatre systems found in the market. On the other hand, there are also the satellite television receivers which can be considered as the most widely used radio receiver in the world today. This type of radio receivers is used to receive television programming from communication satellite found din the outer space. Given the fact that almost all homes in the world have at least one television set at home, it is no wonder that this type are the most popular and widely used.

Used in the reception of modulated AM/FM signals, crystal radio receivers or radio sets as they are commonly known are considered as the simplest type of radio receiver. The first example of this radio sets are the transistor radios popular during the early 1900's. These days, AM and FM radios are being integrated as parts of more common music and sound sources which includes cassette players, DVD/CD players, MP3 CD, USB key players. Other popular types of radio receivers include the communications receivers, specialized-used receivers, measuring receivers, and scanners. All these types of radio receivers are commonly used fro the purpose of entertainment. However, it is also important to note, that besides entertainment, these are also being used as tools fro business as well as security purposes.

The discovery of radio receivers was attributed first to the discovery of electromagnetic waves by James Clerk Maxwell in the 1850's. Electromagnetic waves were then demonstrated by Heinrich Hertz in 1887 by using a spark gap equipment to transmit and receive radio waves. However, it was Alexander Stepanovich Popov who designed the world's first radio receiver first seen at the All Russia Exhibition in 1896. His experiment demonstrated how a wireless device can detect an electromagnetic signal flowing through the air and can convert this into usable form-which is the same concept that brought us now the cellphone.

In today's generation, the technology for radio receivers is still moving forward. From the discovery of electromagnetic waves to the discovery of transistors and radio sets, receiver technology had been advancing gradually yet regularly. Digital signal processing which is performed by converting the signal to a digital stream that is manipulated mathematically is now widespread. Also, a number of other functions usually performed by an analogue intermediate frequency stage can now be processed through software.

Radio receivers have indeed been a great leap in the field of science and technology. With these receivers, communication and entertainment have been made easier for consumers. From transistors, radio sets, television sets and today, cellphones, radio receivers have been a vital part in the search for ways on how to improve every individual's day-to-day living.

How Much Does Satellite Radio Cost?

| Friday, July 8, 2011
By Owen Jones

Satellite radio is highly popular these days and it is growing in popularity more and more every day. If you are not certain what satellite radio is, you can look at it like cable or satellite television. In essence, satellite radio is a subscription only service. It has a colossal assortment of radio stations that are not accessible on the ordinary AM or FM services.

If you are wondering about how much satellite radio costs, then the answer is the maddening one: it depends. It depends, because there are several variables, such as the apparatus itself, installation fees and monthly fees. Equipment from the countless manufacturers varies a lot as well.

For instance, Bose is more expensive than a Chinese item from Walmart. Installation charges vary depending on where you live and who you use and the monthly fee will depend on which package or bundle you select. So, regrettably, the answer is: it depends.

There is also a one-off 'activation fee'. This costs about $15 if you do it by phone and about $5 if you it over the Internet. However, the push is on to get you signed up, so there are frequently promotions on doing away with this outrageous rip-off fee. As if you will not be paying enough in monthly charges for the rest of your life!

If you want to install satellite radio in your car, you have two alternatives, if your existing radio is not 'satellite ready'. You can either purchase a new car stereo that is 'satellite ready' or you can buy a satellite signal receiver and decoder unit and plug it into your present radio. This decoder can be hidden away under the driver's seat or stashed in the trunk of the car. You will also need a new aerial on the roof.

Costs differ outrageously, but let's average it out at $600 for a decent, new, satellite-enabled, ready to go stereo fitted and working or $350 for a cheap system using your own radio, but also ready to receive satellite broadcasts. So, you could say, on average, for about $500 you can be listening to satellite broadcasts.

However, just as with laptop computer prices, demand creates downward pressure on prices and by the time you read this piece, the price could have halved. Let's hope so.

Portable satellite radio receivers can be a bit cheaper, mostly because there are no installation charges and come out at around $400.

Then there are the monthly subscription fees. As I said above, this depends on the package you choose. The average charge is $10-$15 a month, but specific channels can be extra. For instance, you could receive the Playboy channel for free at one time, but the normal cost is $2.95 per month.

Sport may cost more, especially for a finals match. Sometimes, you can get a discount for paying annually and Sirius even has a one-off, lifetime option at $500. Perhaps the best thing to do is keep an eye on the promotional offers and be ready to pounce quickly when a fitting one comes up.
